As a collateral duty, the Orange Park Police Department staffs one public information officer position. Currently, Lt. Cody Monroe fills this role. The PIO is the primary point of contact for all police-related news media inquiries. The PIO manages all media and public relations regarding police related matters. On behalf of the Chief of Police, the Public Information Officer (PIO) serves as the official spokesperson for the department.

The mission of the OPPD Public Information Officer is to establish and maintain solid and ethical relationships with media for accurate, timely release of information and to communicate consistently with the community by providing timely and relevant information regarding incidents that may have short or long-term impacts on the community. Our PIO provides information through traditional media relations tools such as news releases, press conferences, public services announcements and media alerts, as well as social media, SaferWatch alerts.
