After building some experience, members are permitted to request attendance to a FTO (Field Training Officer) course. This will permit the member to become an FTO within our agency. FTO's help teach new officers how to perform their job through four different phases of training. This is an extremely important role as their efforts help shape the future of the department. Being a Field Training Officer — teaching young officers the right way to do the job — can be one of the most rewarding assignments in all of law enforcement. The Orange Park Police Department's FTO program is supervised by an FTO Coordinator - an additional role that officers may seek to fill in their careers.
